10 Things to Help You Get Over the Mardi Gras Blues

Well, it’s all over folks. Mardi Gras 2020 has come and gone, and it was another year to remember. From all the lowlights of parade accidents to the highlights of costumes, friends, family, and all other Mardi Gras shenanigans, there is just something magical about Mardi Gras in New Orleans.

If you’re like us today, you’re wondering how the hell you will return to work this week and not have Mardi Gras on the mind. Well, we are here to help you get through the Mardi Gras blues!

Below are our ten recommendations on surviving the post-Mardi Gras blues.

We hope you enjoy it, and we can’t wait to celebrate with you again next year.

Give up drinking & terrible food for lent

Lent is here! That means it is time to repent and give up something in your life for 40 days. Maybe it’s drinking or eating terribly? We aren’t saying this is good for everybody, but maybe your waistline and your attitude need it. You can start today – or even next Monday – we won’t judge.

Create your Mardi Gras 2021 list and plans

You know you are wondering if you really did everything you wanted to do this Mardi Gras season. If you didn’t cross everything off the list, now is the time to start pre-planning. Get your list together for next year so you don’t miss out on anything for 2021. This is the key to a successful run in 2021, getting a head-start is crucial for Mardi Gras.

Another day in paradise with nothing but Mardi on my mind. Our Mardi Gras Field guides are coming very soon! Any retailers or hotels that wanna carry them – DM me! I actually ordered costume supplies at 4am last night because my brain is totally consumed with all things Carnival. Clean your car, clean your house, clean yourself… just clean everything

If your house and car are not littered with beads, cans, food remnants, and random clothes, then you didn’t do it right. Put some headphones in, grab a mop, and get after it. Cleaning always makes people feel better.

Go to the gym

Exercise will improve your mind, your body, and even cleanse you of the toxins you have ingested over the past 7-9 days. The gym is always open, and ready for you.

Sleep harder than ever before

Sleep today, tomorrow, and through the weekend. The good news is your workweek is a short one this weekend, so sleep as MUCH as you can over the next 5 days.

Eat everything in sight

This is the complete opposite of giving up food and drinks for lent. You have been stuffing your face with King Cake for weeks, what is another 2-3 days to help cope with Mardi Gras blues?! Eat, and feel good about it. You can always start back at the gym another day.

Start prepping your St. Patrick’s day plans

If you are not yet tired of parades, then this one is for you. St. Patricks day is only 3 weeks away. That means multiple weekends of parades spanning from Metairie to New Orleans. Make your plans now as they are coming faster than you know it!

Donate your beads

Do some work for the earth, and feel good about it. Donate your Mardi Gras haul to companies that will recycle and re-purpose the beads. One such organization is ArcGNO, a Metairie-based company with multiple locations that accepts Mardi Gras donations year-round.

Plan a vacation

This could be the best way to get out of the Mardi Gras mood. Plan your next adventure. For some NOLA residents that started this week, but it doesn’t matter when the trip is, make it happen, and invite some friends with you. Maybe Disney World or a Caribbean beach is calling your name.

Get ready for NOLA festival season

We never stop here in New Orleans and the end of Mardi Gras signals something special, the start of the New Orleans festival season. French Quarter Fest, BUKU Music & Arts Project, Jazz Fest, and Top Taco are just weeks away. If you are feeling up to it, get those party shoes ready again.
