Watch: Big Freedia Performs Along The Mississippi River To Celebrate Pride 2020

It’s no secret Big Freedia has been a big part of New Orleans’ pride celebration over the past few years. In 2019 Freedia reigned as the grand marshall for the annual pride parade here in the city. If you’re unfamiliar with the event, the parade is billed as “the Largest LGBT parade on the Gulf Coast,” as the annual procession is the centerpiece of the weekend Pride Festival in New Orleans.

And although COVID-19 has thrown a huge wrench into New Orleans’ pride week Big Freedia is still holding down that sense of community and togetherness here in NOLA. Just yesterday, the queen diva posted a colorful and unique Livestream event live from the banks of the Mississippi in downtown New Orleans. “Can’t Cancel Pride” was hosted by IheartRadio and some other local favorites, Tank And The Bangas.

You can watch the event below, courtesy of Big Freedia’s Instagram page.

Along with Big Freedia, “Can’t Cancel Pride” featured appearances from prominent LGBTQ artists and celebrity allies. First-rate performances from artists like Billy Porter, Adam Lambert, Big Freedia, Sia, Ricky Martin, Melissa Etheridge, Katy Perry, and Kim Petras celebrated the strength and beauty of the LGBTQ+ community.
