One of NOLA’s rap moguls, Birdman, has announced plans to help residents of New Orleans with rent for the month of May.

Birdman posted the details on his Instagram late Monday night. The post also saw the Cash Money co-founder calling on support from New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell, radio station Q93, radio personality Uptown Angela, and other local entities.

“I would like 2 offer to pay everybody’s rent for month of May (for those who in need) in the area of UPTOWN New Orleans where I was born and raised at from mac melph calio and ST Thomas housing and from the 3rd ward to 17th ward”

The charity move for various parts of Uptown was inspired by the wave of coronavirus cases in the greater New Orleans area. As of Monday New Orleans had 6,148 reported COVID-19 cases. The state of Louisiana currently has over 25,000 total cases and 1,400 deaths.

The details of Birdman’s donation have not been given yet. This story will see various updates as we learn more. You can see Birdman’s full post below.
