Deep South Dance: Armin Van Buuren + New Local Tracks and Upcoming Shows

January 15, 2020 | It’s time for another edition of Deep South Dance, your latest on everything dance music related in New Orleans. We’re back from a sleep holiday season, and now it’s time to prepare for another Carnival season. If you’re wondering what’s latest and greatest in New Orleans electronic music, here’s your latest bi-weekly roundup…

There was no shortage of awesome New Years performances in the NOLA area. The Frenchmen Hotel hosted a roaring 20’s themed showcase to ring in the decade, with Zupparty performing a electro-swing set for the ages. Ookay headlined the Metro‘s NYE extravaganza, and Herobust rang in the new year with the Republic

Tipper returned to New Orleans with another weekend takeover with some fellow psybient and IDM producers.

The Heavy Bass pajama slams picked back up again last weekend with Boarcrok, and the Tipper afterparties were abounding. The Art Garage and Banks St. Bar were just a few of the local venues to host unofficial afterparties. With local performances by New Thousand, Murkury, Malbis and tons more, it was a New Orleans-level way to ring in the new year.

Here’s what’s coming up for us over the next two weeks.

Upcoming Shows

Armin Van Buuren is coming to the Fillmore New Orleans at the end of the month. As a house-head living in a heavy-bass city, this is an unmissable show in my opinion y’all. He’s held the coveted DJ Mag’s number one spot in the “Top 100 DJs” five times, and his weekly State of Trance radio show is broadcast to over 41 million listeners in 84 countries.

In other news, heavy bass artists Conrank and DMVU are teaming up to take over the Republic, for a bone-shaking performance on the 25th, and melodic house producer Elephante rings in a new month with a February 1st performance at the same venue.
