Ed Orgeron: Clyde Edwards-Helaire ‘Has A Chance to Play’ Against Oklahoma

After injuring himself in practice last week, Clyde Edwards-Helarie has remained questionable, and LSU fans have remained worried. The star running back for the Tigers injured his hamstring during a non-contact drill.

And while LSU never officially ruled Edwards-Helarie out of the game, fans feared the worse as multiple reports surfaced of him walking around on crutches during practice.

Today Ed Orgeron finally addressed all the Edwards rumors during one of his morning press conferences.

“It’s going to be a day-to-day deal,” Orgeron said. “But I promise you this: it’s a little bit better than what I thought last week. He has a chance to play. I don’t know if he’s going to play. It’ll be day-by-day.”

While it isn’t a guarantee and coach isn’t giving too many details, we can at least be somewhat optimistic Clyde will suit it up Saturday. Edwards-Helarie rushed for over 1,200 yards this season and leads the conference with 16 rushing touchdowns. He has been a dominant force out of the backfield as well.

We will continue to update this story as we learn more about Edwards-Helarie’s injury this week. The Tigers face the Sooners in the College Football Playoff national semifinals in the Peach Bowl at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta at 3 p.m. Saturday.
