El Cucuy Brings Style, Outdoor Patio Vibes, & Amazing Mexican Street Food To Tchoupitoulas Street

Last September we shared the news that Uptown was getting a brand new Mexican restaurant and bar along Tchoupitoulas Street near Napoleon Avenue. The inspiration behind this new restaurant? Heavy metal vibes, South American folklore, automobile culture, and of course tacos.

Fast forward one year, and El Cucuy has finally opened its doors and boasts a fantastic menu to go with it. The restaurant’s focus is on Mexican street food, including shrimp cocktails, elote, tacos and tortas, mango nada, queso, beans, and their signature duros, which are puffed wheat wheels coated with lime, salt, and hot sauce.

Along with a tasty new menu, El Cucuy showcases a large outdoor area decked out with an Airstream Trailer and fun decor. The outdoor patio also features a canopy for shade and can fit 65 people, all spaced out within the cities current COVID guidelines.

El Cucuy officially opened for outdoor dine-in service this past Friday and is also taking to-go and delivery orders. The restaurant’s hours of operations are 11:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Wednesday through Monday. You can visit El Cucoy’s website here to order, or get a full look at their menu. The restaurant is located at 3507 Tchoupitoulas St.

Take a look at some of their recent photos below!
