Experience Amazing Art, Lights, & Technology at NOLA’s Luna Fête: Tonight-Sunday

Since 2014, the Festival of Lights, Arts and Technology have wowed attendees with four-nights headlined by some truly wild visual shows.

Bright, morphing scenes of Louisiana, and beyond, are projection-mapped onto the facade of Gallier Hall. Under this marble canvas, thought-provoking exhibits on light and tech and storytelling erupt. They spill down Lafayette Street until it reaches Fulton Alley, itself bedazzled in a blaze of Holiday glory. This is a magical place to be on a cool December evening. Luna Fête returns this Thursday, December 12, and runs through December 15th.

New Shows at Luna Fête 2019

Luna Fête is a product of the Arts Council of New Orleans. This year, the Arts Council presents a new visual show from French artist Camille Gross, and local video artists Cristina Molina and Courtney Egan. Their projection occupies the 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. slots, while previous projections will show at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m.

The theme of Luna Fête Six is “The Shadow Circus.” There are a few details about what can be expected. A shadow-puppet piece from John Lehon and Shadow Cinema titled “The Cirque des Silhouettes” is a good indication of the stunning visuals that await. Additionally, art walkers can interact with the carnival-like, “Water Graffiti” from Antonin Fourneau. Brennan Steele’s “BC Helix” lets people manipulate sets of hanging lights with a camera.

PS. If you are looking to jam out, here is a full list of all the DJ’s and music events happening this weekend at LUNA Fete! Including a silent disco hosted by the New Orleans collective Dohm!
