Steve Aoki and Mija Turn It Out at Hell’s Gala [Event Review]

The vibes were high on the riverside last Saturday as Hell’s Gala rocked Mardi Gras World with the dance party of the Halloween weekend. The music was great and with three different stages of banging tunes plus that special riverside ambiance that MGW is known for, this was one spookily turnt Halloween celebration.

NOLA natives, P-TAB and Klutch kicked things off on the mainstage. Both provided exciting sets to get things rolling before the headliners. Next up was our #WomanCrushEveryday, Mija, who with an impressive mix of jams kept the crowd moving and hanging onto every song. After her performance, Mija frolicked around Mardi Gras World and was spotted in the Dohm with the Dohm Collective crew during Wuki. She also found her way into the Haunted Mansion where she went B2B2B with Lleauna and RYE for an all-girls techno takeover.

In the VIP-only Haunted Mansion, Techno Club Nola residents Tristan Dufrene, Lleauna and RYE kept the techno vibes going. And outside of the ballroom the Dohm Collective crew held things down with their geodesic dome. If you weren’t entrapped in the party in the Ballroom then the Dohm was the place to be. Dino Brawl and C-Lab kicked off the night with a funky B2B set followed by Zupparty and then oodles of noodley future tunes from LoMeyn. Sunsabetchez followed up with a hype and grimy set before Wuki took over and turned the dome into a bonafide dance party. Bleep Bloop closed out the Dohm stage and blasted everyone into outer space with his bass-heavy set.

To close out the night, Steve Aoki slammed the mainstage with one of his typically energetic electro-house sets. The Dim Mak artist jammed to a packed Ballroom and threw seven of his signature cakes. Aoki knows exactly how to keep the party going and did not disappoint. His dynamic performance was a great end to Hell’s Gala and we look forward to next year on the scariest weekend in New Orleans. Shouts to Hell’s Gala, WCP and BASSIK for putting on one hell of a party!
