JAMNOLA At Night: Local Artist Takeovers Begin Tomorrow Night

To celebrate the artistic souls of the city, JAMNOLA is introducing its “JAMNOLA at Night” artist takeover concept, with the first artist takeover taking place Tomorrow.

From painters to performance artists, New Orleans has no shortage of talented creatives. The “JAMNOLA at Night” artist takeover concept celebrates the artistic souls of the city. The first artist takeover: The Future is Black Joy / Black Art / Black Music, curated by Vally O and DC PauL, will take place from on March 9th from 6 – 10 p.m. With performances by poets, painters, harpists, dancers and more, spend a night after hours with JAMNOLA and New Orleans’ most colorful, creative & talented artists.

JAMNOLA is New Orleans’ first experimental pop-up and living art exhibit. The immersive 12 rooms and 5,400 square feet celebrate the iconic art, music, food, and theatrics of the city.

Always a love letter to New Orleans at heart, JAMNOLA pays tribute to the people and artists who have left their mark on the city, especially the Black community. This special event will celebrate Black Joy, Art and Music with performances of spoken word, artists, dancers and more.

“What would New Orleans be without the influence of Black food, Black art and Black culture? We’re honored to curate a moving and entertaining evening celebrating Black artists with JAMNOLA,”

  • Vally O, NOLA-based performance artist

In addition to the March 9 event, JAMNOLA will also take time to recognize Women’s History Month. The digital collage in the “Who Dot?” exhibit will transform to honor three important icons in New Orleans cultural history:

– Oretha Castle Hayley: New Orleans Civil Rights Activist and notable political campaign manager

– Dorothy Mae Taylor: first Black woman elected to Louisiana state legislature

– Mayor LaToya Cantrell: first female mayor of New Orleans, leading the city during a global pandemic

The special tribute is currently on display through March 10.

Founder of JAMNOLA Jonny Liss says they’re proud of the inclusive space they’ve created and look forward to many more collaborations and tributes.

Tickets to JAMNOLA at Night are $25 and can be purchased at www.jamnola.com.
