Colorful and large mural displays are popping up all over the city. Led by the NOLA Mural Project, multiple artists have produced dozens of unique murals across the city.

Let’s be real, we have the perfect city to have art everywhere. The mural culture has even birthed a new wave of New Orleans artists who are taking to the national mainstage for their creative works of art. Brandon “B-Mike” Odums and CeAux are just two of the names who have risen to the top of the top.

The City Says Yes to Murals

On June 13th, the city of New Orleans revised the rules for painting a mural on private property inside the greater NOLA area. Instead of $500, it now costs just $50 to apply for a permit. Along with the price drop, artists now only need permission from the Department of Safety and Permits to paint on most properties.

That is a remarkable drop in costs for aspiring new artists for New Orleans murals. This new direction stems from the rise in the popularity of murals in the city of New Orleans. Now as prices drop, and requirements make it easier to fulfill; we could be seeing a new age renaissance in the New Orleans art world.
