Photo + Video: New Orleans Celebrates Bounce Legend 5th Ward Weebie With Funeral & Second Line Parade

New Orleans rap and bounce legend Jerome Cosey, aka 5th Ward Weebie, died suddenly died Jan. 9 from complications from a heart attack, he was 41 years old. The NOLA native was known throughout New Orleans and is regarded as one of the leading New Orleans bounce artists. 

Yesterday friends, family, and fans gathered one last time to send off Weebie with a memorable second line, and funeral at Mahalia Jackson Theater in New Orleans.

Mayor Cantrell and U.S. Representative Cedric Richmond helped eulogize Cosey and many musicians were in attendance including Troy “Trombone Shorty” Andrews.
