Oh Sees Prepare For Their Annual Ball at One Eyed Jacks Tonight

The band Oh Sees must love Halloween in New Orleans. This is at least the third year in a row the band has played a fall set at One Eyed Jacks.

This year, the Cali-based group adds to your list of post Voodoo events with a  performance tonight at the French Quarter bar. LA group Prettiest Eyes are supporting the bill.

The group began as the personal project of singer and guitar player John Dwyer. You can trace the roots of the band as far back as 1997. Under their current moniker, the group has released 19 studio albums, and have overtaken countless basements, bars and festival stages with their sound.

Their energetic blend of psychedelia and punk rock spans their impressive discography of over thirteen years. Their latest release from earlier this year, Face Stabber, includes the 21-minute epic “Henchlock.” It’s a testament to the group’s unorthodox philosophy on recording and releasing music.

“I think it seems strange for us to release so many records because of the tradition in the recording industry to do things a certain way. We just do what we want to do.”

Their gritty and psychedelic blend of punk rock translates to hyper and high energy performances. It’s not uncommon for fans to be dangling from the ceiling beams when the band gets going.

If you’re looking for an evening of mosh pits and groovy body rock after your opening Voodoo night, look no further than Oh Sees at One Eyed Jacks.
