Irish Channel Favorite Parasol’s Bar Has Re-Opened Its Doors

Irish Channel fans rejoice! You can finally get a roast beef Po-Boy at Parasol’s restaurant & bar again! The Irish Channel staple opened its doors again this weekend!

The famous bar and restaurant opened for the first time in 1952 when founder Charles Louis Passauer set up shop at the corner of Third and Constance street. In 2010, the establishment was purchased by Thea and John Hogan, Florida natives with a local connection.

Last may we reported that Parasol’s was close to closing its doors for good. Thea Hogan said a city lawsuit over unpaid taxes has left her unable to renew Parasol’s liquor license.

Four months later and it seems like Parasol’s has solved its problems and is open again! The bar posted a photo yesterday on Instagram welcoming regulars and Irish Channel Patrons back in for a drink.
