As the John Paul Young song goes, “Love is the Air” as light beams dance around a couple kissing during LUNA Fête in Lafayette Square in New Orleans Thursday, December 12, 2019. LUNA stands for Light Up NOLA Arts and celebrates technology and art but also means Moon in Latin. The Moon Party or @LUNAFete is the 6th edition presented by the Arts Council of New Orleans and is free and open to the public at 6pm-10pm from Dec. 12-Dec. 15th. The main light show is projected onto the façade of Gallier Hall, but #LUNAFete2019 includes other light displays along Lafayette Street from St. Charles Ave. to Fulton Street. Joshua Smith @Jdot_Smith sat on a couch as part of his “Repainted Canvas” artwork featuring some his clothing designs projected on the canvas. Gallier Hall is the former City Hall of New Orleans and where the Mayor toasts Kings and Queens of Carnival parades that pass by including Rex and Zulu on Mardi Gras. The Full Cold Moon, top left, was seen behind Gallier Hall earlier in the morning. He has always loved to “doddle”. The older he gets the larger his canvases are. #lunafete2019 #familyartist #newmediaartists #3semesterslefttogo
