The Preservation Hall Reopens After a 15 Month Closure

Preservation Hall

The Preservation Hall will open its doors once again starting on June 10th. The iconic live music venue closed in March of 2020 during the breakout of the COVID-19 crisis but will play live, New Orleans jazz music once again.

The 15-month closure was the longest in the venue’s 60-year history. Known for their nightly live performances, the silence of such an iconic venue was a brutal hit to the heartbeat of New Orleans.

Starting tomorrow, June 10th, the Hall will officially resume its live performances to limited-capacity audiences. To make the return even sweeter, it takes place on the venue’s 60th anniversary.

โ€œIt makes my heart sing that the esteemed musicians who are the earth, air, blood and heartbeat of this magical city will bring their joyous tradition to Preservation Hall after the longest period of silence in our 60-year history,โ€

  • Pres Hall Creative Director Ben Jaffe

The Hallโ€™s 60-musician collective is ecstatic to return to 726 Saint Peter Street, the venue commented. “It’s time to get back to playing our music and having fun. There’s no better place to do that than Preservation Hall,โ€ trumpeter and bandleader Wendell Brunious states. โ€œLet’s get the party started once again. We’ve earned it!”

Due to the intimate nature of Preservation Hall, the safe resumption of in-person live shows will require masks and temperature checks for all patrons and staff. Masks will be provided for patrons who need them. Horn players will also utilize bell covers to ensure full safety.

Shows will resume on Thursday- Sunday nights at 5 pm, 6:15 pm, and 7:30 pm. All ticketing transactions will be via credit card. Cash will not be accepted at the door, and reservations are strongly encouraged.
