River Beats New Orleans is Hiring: Jr Editor-In-Chief, Video Editor, Digital Sales

River Beats has amassed thousands of fans by creating original content mixed within passionate music, Culture, & arts. While we’ve always catered to a national spectrum of content, it became evident that in order for us to serve as a local platform, we needed to create local chapters.

Over the past year, we’ve served New Orleans as the newest cultural movement. Whether it be music, sports, food & drink, or art, River Beats will be there as a voice of the locals and their businesses. We aim to be a go-to tool for all who visit this beautiful city!

While we successfully ushered into our new role in New Orleans, it’s time for us to expand as a company and as a brand. Continuing into 2019, we’re looking to hire several new staff members: Editor-In-Chief, Lead Video Editor/Producer, & Freelance Digital Sales Representative.

Jr. Editor in Chief

Part-time/hourly-based 

We are searching for a New Orleans-based content creator/writer to keep our readers informed and represent our publication at the local level. This position will take on an Editor in Chief role, as well as handle the day-to-day content creation to build the “River Beats New Orleans” brand. We’re seeking an experienced writer who is enthusiastic about the process! Candidates should be able to identify the biggest local trending stories in culture, sports, food, festival, and music.

Ultimately, we’d like to find someone who loves to cover New Orleans culture and is enthusiastic about representing the River Beats brand in the city. Candidates must be able to produce content from a home office or a local space and may be asked to attend/cover local events as needed. You will report directly to the national Editor in Chief, and the program will be overseen by River Beats’ Chief Operating Officer. 

Key performance expectations:

  • Perform final reviews of the content processed by other editors and/or writers in order to ensure the absence of grammatical and spelling errors, fact-checking, etc.
  • Decide which articles, columns, and/or stories are to be published and on what timeline
  • Ensure all content is on-brand, consistent in terms of style, quality, and tone of voice, and optimized for search and user experience for all channels of content including online, social media, email, mobile, video, and in-person
  • Research content ideas, pitch articles, and write & edit trending articles
  • Fact-check information and follow national and local reports to stay aware of trending stories
  • Create new and unique editorial series for the brand, while helping to curate the brand’s general tone of voice for our readers

Skills Needed:

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, journalism or related communications fields.
  • 2-3 years of experience in multi-channel content creation (editorial, publishing, journalism, etc.).
  • Proven content creation and editorial skills
  • Training on news judgment; how to tell a story using words, images, or audio; and an understanding of how to create content that draws an audience
  • Ability to find and vet sources and interview them by phone, in person, and via email.
  • Thorough knowledge in using WordPress

Digital Sales Representative

RIVER BEATS is seeking a highly motivated, seasoned Advertising Sales Associate / Account Manager to drive sales revenue and growth for the company. This is a “hunter” role that provides exceptional players with uncapped earning potential and residual income. Key Performance Expectations:

  • Work closely with River Beats team to better streamline the sales processes
  • Lead generation; source prospects through a door to door sales
  • Utilize online and offline sources to cultivate new leads
  • Develop and maintain a pipeline to effectively grow existing business
  • Set-up introductory sales meetings
  • Manage customer accounts
  • Set-up strategic business goals
  • Work with new and existing clients
  • Consistent follow-up with potential clients to close sales
  • Educate potential clients on the value of advertising with River Beats
  • Motivated team player who consistently strives to exceed goals and expand the business!

Skills Needed:

  • 2-3 years of experience selling digital advertising/programs or a Bachelor Degree in Digital Advertising & Marketing
  • Tenacious sales associate an account manager focused on acquiring & maintaining clients
  • Strong presentation, closing, and sales skills
  • Proven track record of generating significant growth in advertising sales revenues by bringing in new business accounts
  • Results-oriented and accountable, with a strong work ethic
  • Strong organizational skills a must

Lead Video Editor/Producer

We’re seeking a New Orleans based videographer/video editor for a part-time “in-house” position with River Beats New Orleans. The videographer/video editor will be responsible for pre and post video production, including, but not limited to: storyboarding, art directing, producing and editing videos. Key Performance Expectations & Skills Needed:

  • Proficient with Mac computers and media management
  • Comfortable using Adobe Creative Suite
  • Expert level experience with Premiere Pro
  • Moderate to Expert level experience with After Effects and Photoshop.
  • Moderate level experience with Illustrator
  • An on-trend aesthetic, technical skill, and knowledge of current media trends.
  • Experience with after effects (preferred), final cut pro
  • Motion graphics skills preferred
  • Interests outside of motion graphics/editing, such as producing, directing, shooting, set design, data analytics, etc. is a plus
