NOLA Collective Community Records Hosting Summer Weekend Party at Hey! Cafe

We’re deep in the dog days of summer here in New Orleans. And what’s a better way to deal with oppressive, mucky heat than popping inside for some AC, getting a buzz, and listening to some music? Now I’m not much of a drinker, and if you’re not either, your buzz is probably coming from a velvety iced latte instead of something boozy. If thats the case, we have the event for you: Community Records Summer Weekend at Hey! Cafe.

Community Records is a local collective which has been delivering music to the NOLA scene since 2008. The label has released homegrown works of all types: from punk band Donovan Wolfington, indie-rockers Matt Surfin’ and Friends, to the first metal band on Tiny Desk, Thou

Similarly, Summer Weekend features New Orleans acts Pope, Palm Sunday, and Treadles, while also hosting bands who hail from NYC, Richmond, Las Vegas, and ATX. The variety of music is as wide as the locales of the bands: you can expect to hear hip-hop, math rock, scream punk, and then some.

Community Records Summer Weekend will take place at Hey! Cafe, 4332 Magazine St. over two days, Sat. Aug 31 and Sun Sept. 1. Doors will open at 7p with music starting at 8p. Suggested donations of $5-$10 are requested for the touring bands.
