One thing that has remained true during the COIVD-19 pandemic has been the massive impact the virus has taken on the hospitality and restaurant industry. Layoffs, closures, and the remaking of new ownership groups have surged to the forefront of the crowded New Orleans bar and restaurant makeup.
While there have been tons of negative stories, there is also some feel-good pick me up stories that we are focusing on highlighting. One of those stories revolves around a neighborhood bar reborn again just in time.
Lakeview residents are welcoming back The Basin off Harrison avenue once again this Friday, November 6. After shutting down its doors this past July due to COVID restrictions, The Basin is reopening with new owners, new upgrades, and a grand re-opening.
The Basin staff have made drastic improvements that include a new well and draft wine behind the bar, a selection of over 50 beers, 1800’s Mississippi plantation wood finish, stone countertops, and artwork from local favorites Amber Renee, Schnell Studio, and Rambo. The newly created renovations give The Basin an updated look, while still paying tribute to its Lakeview roots.
New owners and operators Chris Jones and Eric Hernandez are proud to call Basin a true New Orleans upscale dive bar. With the Garden District’s The Tasting Room under his wing, Chris is no stranger to the hospitality industry. Along with his endeavors at The Basin, Eric is one of the top producing realty agents for NOLA living realty and has serviced the Greater New Orleans community for over ten years.
