‘Year of American Whiskey’ Kicks Off This Month with SoFAB + New Orleans Bourbon Festival

Year of American Whiskey

Year of America Whiskey is here to lift your spirits in 2022! This monthly series will offer tastings, spirits education, and a connection with the people behind the whiskey brands you love.

New Orleans Bourbon Festival, Museum of the American Cocktail (MOTAC), and the Southern Food & Beverage Museum (SoFAB) are joining forces to unearth the history of the unique spirit with historic ties to New Orleans.

Let the Booze Commence

Year of American Whiskey is kicking off with “Parade Route Party” at SoFAB on Saturday, February 19, 2022 from 11am – 5pm. Just a stone’s throw from the St. Charles parade route, the museum will serve as parade headquarters for the day to offer respite when needed, as well as showcasing Redemption Rye Whiskey.

Crafted by Master Blender, Dave Carpenter, Redemption Whiskey is inspired by pre-Prohibition recipes that bring forth truly distinctive ‘rye-forward’ notes. Tickets are $20 per person and include all-day access to the Museum, whiskey tasting from Redemption Rye, and a raffle for a Bayou St. Cake King Cake created by Chef Bronwen Wyatt.

Additional snacks and cocktails are available for purchase at the Museum. For additional information visit SoFAB Parade Route Party.

Year of American Whiskey Distilleries

After Redemption visits SoFAB, there is a full year of activities to enjoy! The other distilleries featured at SoFAB this year will include:

  • March 23: Maker’s Mark
  • April 16: Still Austin
  • May 21: Old Forrester
  • June 18: Jack Daniels
  • July 16: Belle Meade and High West
  • August 20: Heaven Hill
  • September 17: Oak Eden and Seven Three Distillery
  • October 15: Wild Turkey and Russel’s Reserve
  • November 19: Penelope

Mark your calendars and explore other programs—monthly whiskey tastings are just a part of the collaboration between SoFAB and the New Orleans Bourbon Festival.

“New Orleans Bourbon Festival wanted to provide year-round programming, and partnering with SoFAB allows us to bring great whiskey events to our community, beyond our annual March festival,” says founder of New Orleans Bourbon Festival Tracey Napolitano.
