Yes New Orleans, Even Drive-Thru Daiquiri Shops Are Temporarily Closing

It seems like every day we continue to trend back to phase 1 in New Orleans. Although we haven’t officially announced it, our phase 2 continues to be stripped back. Just yesterday Mayor Cantrell announced that all bars and restaurants must end to-go alcohol sales. This new announcement seems to come after a weekend that saw overcrowding on Bourbon Street.

And if you’re thinking at least we have drive-thru daiquiris, well, no we don’t. According to WDSU’s Christina Watkins, the city is stating that drive-thru shops must also close their doors for the time being. In a statement to WDSU and Watkins, a city spokesman stated “They can’t serve to go. They aren’t restaurants. So they can’t operate.” See Watkins tweet below confirming the information.
