Acid Bath Returns Home to New Orleans for Their Biggest Show Yet

On Saturday, November 15, Acid Bath will play their largest headlining show to date at Lakefront Arena in New Orleans. Get tickets here.

The return of Acid Bath after nearly three decades apart has stood out as one of the most electrifying and talked-about reunions in heavy music. Long considered cult legends with an untouchable legacy, the Louisiana band’s reformation has reignited passion across generations — from those who caught their chaos the first time around to a new wave of listeners discovering their strange, poetic darkness for the first time.

On Saturday, November 15, Acid Bath will play their largest headlining show to date at Lakefront Arena in New Orleans. For a band that rose from the humid, haunted swamps of Louisiana’s underground, this performance feels less like a concert and more like a long-awaited homecoming.

The night promises to be a full-scale celebration of heavy music’s most uncompromising spirit. Joining them are Mastodon, Power Trip, Amigo the Devil, Soilent Green, and Suplecs — a lineup that reads like a manifesto of sludge, doom, and dark Americana, each act tracing its lineage in some way back to Acid Bath’s influence.

Emerging in the early 1990s, Acid Bath fused sludge, doom, punk, grunge, and psychedelia into something singular — heavy and hallucinatory, violent and strangely beautiful. Their songs balanced crushing riffs with dreamlike lyricism, painting worlds of decay, desire, and transcendence. Across just two albums — When the Kite String Pops (1994) and Paegan Terrorism Tactics (1996) — they carved out a legacy that still echoes through today’s metal underground.

Following the tragic death of bassist Audie Pitre in 1997, the band disbanded, cementing their mythic status. In the years since, Acid Bath’s cult following only grew — their music spreading through message boards, mixtapes, and word of mouth like sacred lore.

Acid Bath Returns to New Orleans

Now, nearly three decades later, Acid Bath’s return has been met with unprecedented demand. Their initial run of shows sold out within hours, and festival appearances have drawn capacity crowds eager to witness the band’s resurrection.

For New Orleans fans, this night at Lakefront Arena is more than a reunion — it’s a reckoning. A chance to stand in the presence of legends who helped define a sound and spirit that could only have been born in Louisiana.
