Shorty Gras, the official after-parade celebration of the Krewe of Freret, returns for its sixth year on February 7, 2026, at Mardi Gras World. Curated by Trombone Shorty, the event blends global talent with New Orleans brass in the heart of Carnival season.
This year’s lineup features Big Freedia, New Breed Brass Band (featuring Trombone Shorty), and Diplo, delivering a genre-spanning celebration that ranges from bounce and brass to late-night DJ sets. For the first time, the party hits the parade route, with Diplo spinning live from a float before the celebration continues at Mardi Gras World.
“We’re bringing the party to the street this year,” said Bobby Hjortsberg, Captain of the Krewe of Freret. “The whole city gets a taste of the music before we bring everyone together for the after-party.”

The 2026 parade will be led by King XIV Joseph Warren Gerrity IV, Queen XIV Shannon E. Thomas, and Grand Marshal Trombone Shorty, who will guide the procession to Shorty Gras.
Following the parade, guests can enjoy live music, food from local favorites, and full bar service. VIP ticket holders will receive premium food, drinks, and front-row viewing.
