Summer Lyric Theatre at Tulane Celebrates 58 Years of Broadway Excellence

Summer Lyric Theatre at Tulane University proudly announces its 58th season, continuing a legacy of Broadway-caliber musical theatre in uptown New Orleans. This summer, audiences will experience three iconic productions – A Chorus Line (June 19–22), Company (July 10–13), and Carousel (July 31–August 3) – each helmed by an all-female team of directors and choreographers. This season also marks the official appointment of C. Leonard Raybon as Artistic Director, ushering in an exciting era for the company.

“I am honored to lead Summer Lyric Theatre as artistic director,” says Raybon. “This season is all about celebrating great musical theater and the amazing talent we have, both on stage and behind the scenes.”

For nearly six decades, Summer Lyric Theatre has been a cornerstone of the city’s performing arts scene, renowned for world-class vocal and dance performances, a full orchestra, and exceptional production. The season’s shows will be staged in Dixon Hall, celebrated for its pristine acoustics and immersive audience experience.

2025 Season Productions

A Chorus Line
Directed and choreographed by Jauné Buisson, A Chorus Line follows a group of passionate dancers as they audition for a Broadway show, revealing their personal stories, struggles, and dreams. This beloved musical, famous for its iconic numbers like “One” and “What I Did for Love,” is brought to life with Buisson’s dynamic vision and deep understanding of the show’s emotional core. 

Company
Directed by Leslie Castay and choreographed by Katelin Zelon, Stephen Sondheim’s Company explores love, commitment, and friendship through the eyes of Bobby, a bachelor navigating the complexities of modern relationships. Castay’s direction and Zelon’s choreography promise a fresh, engaging take on this witty and insightful classic.

Carousel
Directed and choreographed by Diane Lala, Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Carousel is a sweeping tale of love, redemption, and hope set against a stunning musical backdrop.
