25 Of The Best New Orleans-Based Photographer Accounts You Should Be Following

When we launched River Beats New Orleans in May of 2018 we knew we had to capture the essence of the city. While doing that in the form of thousands of written articles, we also managed to develop relationships with some of the BEST photographers New Orleans

You never know what the city has to offer; from amazing festivals to unusual sites, and some of the best houses and people of the United States. While some people welcome the setting of unique geographical landscapes and outdoor features, we settle for amazing city views, and once in a lifetime adventures here in the Big Easy.

With that being said, we thought it was time to shine some light on some of the BEST photographers in and around New Orleans and South Louisiana. These are the people who we’ve featured time and time again on our Instagram. We owe it to them for the countless photos they provide.

The best part is that all of these individuals share their very own style, and we love them for it. Check out 25+ of the best New Orleans-based photographer accounts you should be following below.

Lafitte’s Blacksmith Shop — One of the oldest extant French Quarter buildings, this circa 1772 French colonial cottage is a fine example of briquette-entre-poteaux (brick between posts) construction. Both bricks and wooden timbers are revealed by the spalling of stucco. The building is apparently allowed to remain in this condition for effect, which is unfortunate as the stucco serves to protect the underlying materials from deterioration. Although legend has it that Jean Lafitte and his brother Pierre ran a fencing operation here, there is no hard evidence showing any connection to the famous pirates. Two devastating fires destroyed large portions of the French Quarter in the waning years of the 18th century. The first occurred on Easter weekend of 1788, and consumed most of 20 square blocks. Of the 1,100 buildings then in existence, 856 were destroyed. Just six years later, on December 8, 1794, a fire took 212 buildings. Swipe to see how close the conflagration of 1788 came to consuming this structure (represented by the red square). #neworleans #architecture #frenchquarter

One more Mardi Gras post. Getty Images bestpix for the first two. 1) Section 1 of Bacchagator rolling down Napolean Avenue on Sunday night. Tandem floats were banned Saturday night after two separate accidents. 2) Second Chief Joe Boudreaux of the Golden Eagles Mardi Gras Indians passing the Dew Drop Inn on Simon Bolivar Boulevard yesterday. I just came across the third shotโ€”sometimes you miss some gems in your first edit when you are rushing to meet a deadline. 3) Black Hawk Hunters meet the Golden Eagles at 2nd and Dryades Streets. The Chief of the Black Hawk Hunters is still in high school (Newman, for all my Greenies) and this little guy is in second grade. To see Spy Boy Floyd receive him, shake his hand, ask him what tribe heโ€™s with…well, letโ€™s just say it was precious. That makes 15 years for me documenting the Golden Eagles. Now itโ€™s time to jump back to the music biz. #wontbowdown #mardigras #mardigrasindians #goldeneagles #baccagator #kreweofbacchus #erikagoldringphoto
