After 15 years of Hangout Fest, Gulf Shores and its organizers decided 2025 was the year to try something new. That new chapter came in the form of a brand-new festival: Morgan Wallen’s inaugural Sand In My Boots Festival, officially announced late last year.
And how did the public take it? With anything new, there will always be mixed reactions, but overall, a massive success both for Gulf Shores and the new attendees headed to the Gulf South.
Sand In My Boots sold out within a few hours of announcing the lineup. Something that is not seen every day in 2025, as festivals struggled to continue to match past success. And with the success of year one, maybe Sand In My Boots is here to stay?
If you missed the lineup, the sold-out three-day festival featured an eclectic mix of more than 30 artists, including Post Malone, Brooks & Dunn, Hardy, The War On Drugs, T-Pain, Three 6 Mafia, and more.

The Sand In My Boots to Hangout Connection
After a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic, Hangout Festival returned strong in 2022 and 2023 with successful editions. Before the pause, the Gulf Shores event had become one of the premier beach festivals in the country, regularly drawing over 40,000 fans. Since its debut in 2010, when it featured artists like Zac Brown Band, John Legend, and Trey Anastasio, Hangout has hosted an impressive range of headliners, including Kendrick Lamar, OutKast, Foo Fighters, Lana Del Rey, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Killers, and Mumford & Sons.
With the success of Sand In My Boots, who knows what the future of Hangout is, but we can without a doubt say this one was one of the better festivals we have ever been to. Well-crafted music, a flow a festival should have, and everything in between. Check out a full gallery of photos from our team below, captured by Cameron Centeno.
