Farmstand Entertainment wants to help rebuild New Orleans’ post-COVID 19 cultural economies. And they’re doing it through three industries – Entertainment, Hospitality, and Farming.
In an effort to boost these sectors while giving locals and visitors a new platform for live music, dining, and fun, the newly-founded organization has just announced the inaugural events for Farmstand Live – a series of cultural experiences featuring live music, culinary delights, and farm-fresh produce served up in a drive-in setting.
It’s a very unique drive-in culinary concert series that is a convergence of food, music, and farming in a socially-distant setting.
Farmstand Entertainment is the brainchild of Emily Vanlandingham, founder/chef of Locally Preserved, New Orleans’ first all-natural food manufacturer. Vanlandingham, who recently earned a Master’s Degree in Food Business from the Culinary Institute of America, witnessed the economic downfall of New Orleans during the pandemic, just as she was completing the last year of her studies.
“We rely heavily on our incredible live music, on our renowned dining scene, and on our year-round farming. Farmstand Entertainment, and specifically, Farmstand Live, is a way to combine the three and pump money back into the economy.”
- Emily Vanlandingham, founder of Farmstead Entertainment
Taking place on the two Saturdays of what are traditionally Jazz Fest weekends (April 24th and May 1st, 2021), the first two events of Farmstand Live will take place at the Shrine on Airline and feature live performances by some of New Orleans’ critically acclaimed musicians; prepared dinners from the city’s finest restaurants; and farm-fresh produce boxes from Crescent City Farmer’s Market.
With top-tier musicians including Jon Cleary, George Porter Jr., Ivan Neville (Dumpstaphunk Album Release Party), Honey Island Swamp Band & NOLA’s hottest restaurants like Cochon Butcher, Justine, Addis NOLA, Bywater Bakery, and others, Farmstand Live has something for everyone.
