Today, New Orleans-based band The Quadroholics released their highly anticipated album, “Blink & You’ll Miss It.” This project marks a significant evolution in their sound, blending modern post-punk, hip-hop, shoegaze, electronic, and pop-punk to create a unique and immersive experience.

Rooted in the vibrant New Orleans music scene, The Quadroholics began as a rap group but have continually expanded their musical horizons. Their 2020 album, “Aurora,” marked a shift towards a modernized 1980s post-punk style, which they further refined with their 2022 release, “Europa.” This album, praised by River Beats as “authentic, raw, and infectious,” led to an extensive tour across the Southern United States.

Blink & You’ll Miss It

“Blink & You’ll Miss It” is a concept album exploring the passage of time and how memories and daydreams can lead to self-destruction. Unlike their previous albums, this project plays as one continuous track, with each song seamlessly transitioning into the next. This innovative approach enhances the album’s thematic coherence and immerses listeners in a rich auditory experience.

Building on the post-punk foundation introduced in “Europa,” the album incorporates elements of shoegaze and electronic music. The result is a soundscape that is both expansive and intimate, inviting listeners to delve into the depths of their own memories and reflections.

The album features several standout singles that showcase The Quadroholics’ diverse musical influences and lyrical depth. “Ego Death (Feat. HAVA)” is a disco-inspired collaboration with British artist HAVA, combining upbeat psych-pop sounds with introspective lyrics. The song explores the paradoxical desire to pursue self-destruction as a path to rebirth, creating a track that is both compelling and danceable.

“American Dream,” inspired by Tears for Fears, is an anthemic yet satirical track addressing pressing issues faced by American youth today. From recreational drug use to the challenges of accessing therapy, the lyrics invite listeners to reexamine the modern American Dream, offering a tongue-in-cheek critique wrapped in a grand, uplifting sound.

NOLA Collabs

“Blink & You’ll Miss It” features an impressive lineup of local New Orleans musicians, adding depth and variety to the project. Ethan Wallace (Dana Ives) provides drums on “October,” Mitch Frank contributes keys on “Wasted,” James Beaumont (The Quickening) plays saxophone on “Blink,” Will Murry (The Iceman Special) adds additional vocals and guitar on “Howl at the Moon,” Two-Tone Merigold offers additional guitar on “Before the Sun Comes,” HAVA adds additional synth and guitar on “Ego Death,” and Jay Zen contributes additional vocals on “Old Habits.”

The Quadroholics have solidified their presence in the New Orleans music scene with notable performances at prestigious venues and festivals. They have been invited twice to perform at the esteemed Mom’s Ball and recently at the legendary Tipitina’s. They are set to perform at Tipitina’s tomorrow, July 27th, in support of the release of “Blink & You’ll Miss It,” promising an unforgettable night for their fans.

Their regional reach extends beyond New Orleans, with impressive performances at events like Fete Du Void, Chuck Fest in Lake Charles, Louisiana, Homegrown Revival in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, and Bridge Alliance Fest in St. Augustine, Florida. The Quadroholics’ eclectic sound allows them to share the stage with a diverse range of musical acts, from Texas Hip Hop legend Lil Flip to the Louisiana swamp funk of The Iceman Special and the dirty bass of EDM artists like KTRL and Trigem.
