JAMNOLA Opens Brand New Mardi Gras Installation Today

JAMNOLA Mardi Gras

JAMNOLA, the cultural funhouse located in the Marigny, just announced new installations that celebrate the traditions, legends and krewes of Carnival. The can’t-miss JAMNOLA Mardi Gras experience starts Friday, January 22 and will be on display through Sunday, February 21.

JAMNOLA is New Orleans’ first experimental pop-up that takes audiences of all ages on a topsy-turvy stroll through some of the cultures that make our city so special. The immersive 12 room exhibit is 5,400 square feet of pure NOLA joy, celebrating the iconic art, music, food, and theatrics of the city, through the eyes of 20+ local artists.

To celebrate the season, the team pays tribute to carnival culture with over-the-top installations from new & current JAMNOLA artists. Before you even enter the first room, you’ll walk through an intricate archway “Arc D’JAM” from artists Robin Durand and Breanna Thompson, surrounded by larger than life Mardi Gras beads and brass band silhouettes.

Additional features for this season include special tributes, where JAMNOLA will celebrate what makes a New Orleans Mardi Gras unique with tributes to the legends and krewes that make it all happen.

The Costume Closet, a room that you’ll find Mardi Gras elements in throughout the year, will feature a shrine to Mardi Gras krewes by artist Shel Roumillat. The JAMNOLA team invites krewe members to add a piece of Mardi Gras memorabilia to the shrine daily, giving you a chance to look at prized throws from the season.

And in a special JAMNOLA Mardi Gras addition, Krewe du Vieux is lending nine figures to the JAMNOLA installation. The fan-favorite figures include the Ruth Bader Ginsburg boxing champ, everyone’s favorite yats Vic and Nat’ly, and the five-piece Fly Brass Band.

And you certainly won’t leave empty-handed. Get your hands on a commemorative go-cup, featuring a QR code that gets you a map to the Krewe of House Floats. You’ll also get discounts to bars and restaurants so you can keep the celebrations going.

General admission tickets are $29 for adults and $20 for children. Kids ages 2 & under are free. Tickets can be purchased online at www.jamnola.com.

Ticket reservations are required; no walk-ins.
