Tales of the magic of the Crescent City of New Orleans stretch back over centuries.
It is an enigmatic place where Voodoo, Hoodoo, Witchcraft, and even Christianity blend at a crossroads of spiritual power. On August 9 to 11, 2019, Brian Cain, Christian Day, and the Witches of New Orleans present HexFest: A Weekend of Witchery held in the heart of the historic French Quarter.
The conference opens with a Riverboat Ritual and dinner, held on an authentic steamboat on the Mississippi River, followed by two full days of workshops, drumming, and ritual at The Bourbon Orleans Hotel, a venue riddled with a history of hauntings. HexFest has gathered Witches, rootworkers, Voodoo priests and other magical teachers from within New Orleans and around the world to offer their time-honored wisdom. Between workshops, attendees will love the magical shopping in our on-site vending hall where you can purchase powerful ritual tools, signed books, exquisite jewelry, and spellcrafts handmade by true practitioners!

Within a scene that is constantly changing, few have risen through the trenches and have stirred the bass community between 2017 and 2018 as much as Bay Area native Danny Howland, better known as SVDDEN DEATH.
Taking inspirations from Noisia,16BIT, Skrillex, and other legends in the dubstep community – SVDDEN DEATH has formulated a hybrid of textured rhythms and sub-wrecking basslines to create his own maniacal sound. Curating all original sets, a SVDDEN DEATH set is an experience in itself no bass lover should go without seeing.
He’s come a long way since the release of his first EP through the well-known Never Say Die: Black Label and his multitude of singles released via Buygore Record’s newest imprint Fresh Blood. Between dropping his haywire VOYD alter ego – including “Behemoth”, heard repeatedly throughout the festival circuit – to now his most recent single “Sell Out” with Electronic’s current mega-star Marshmello as well an official remix for “Happier” – SVDDEN DEATH has clearly made his mark in the bass scene and will be one to watch.

Every year on the second Saturday in August, the New Orleans Hash House Harriers (a local “drinking club with a running problem”) host Red Dress Run, a charity “run” in the Crescent City. This yearly event is loved by locals and visitors alike, and is unlike any other run in the world. The run is just the beginning of a day full of red dress goers. On August 10 2019, hit the streets in your head to toe red attire. Whether you’re running or not, the day is filled with fun and excitement.
Red Dress Run 2019
The run begins at 11:30 AM in an undisclosed located in the French Quarter or Marigny– register to find out where. However, beer begins to flow and runners start appearing around 9:30 AM. The runners, with drinks in hand, continue their route through the French Quarter and Marigny/ Bywater and spend the rest of the day celebrating. The route is about 2 miles long. Expect a sea of red throughout!
If running isn’t your thing, watching from the sidelines is just as fun, and red dresses are still required! Party with your fellow fashionistas afterward on Bourbon Street and the surrounding area.
Participants in the Red Dress Run New Orleans can sign up online here. Registration includes donations to local charities, special live music, and beers for the run. Early bird pricing is available.
You must be 21 or older to participate.
