Emily Lovejoy is a New Orleans native with a talent for painting with acrylics. Driving forward with her philosophy of “Never stop perfecting your craft” she has had plenty of motivation. She draws inspiration from the people around her and how they interact with one another and their environment. Attending the University of New Orleans, she studied Fine Arts in Studio Art and Business Management. She perfected her craft and moved on to graduate in 2012 with a Bachelors in Fine Arts.
Shortly after graduation, she acquired an internship with New Orleans Museum of Art from 2012-2013. Maintaining her focus in contemporary portraiture, she did a lot of live painting in 2013. Painting at events like the NYE ball drop in New Orleans, Pierre Thomas’ Holiday Dinner Benefiting ICAN Foundation, G-Easy at Voodoo Music and Arts Festival, Hell’s Gala, and also at New Orleans rapper Pell’s “Fresh Produce Tour”. Emily went on to win R.A.W. Visual artist of the year for New Orleans in 2013.
She participated in a wide range of group exhibitions from 2013-2015 including:
– Girl and Chocolate Team Presents “Pretty Sweet US Tour 2013” in New Orleans
– WEST Austin Studio Tour in Austin Texas
– Magic Girl Productions: Sugar Art and Fashion Show in New York
– Red Bull Curates Canvass Cooler in New Orleans
– Tangled Up in Blue: The Degas Gallery of Art for Art’s Sake in New Orleans
– Sex Death Unicorns in New Orleans
She has also been involved in several solo exhibits such as Digital Dollhouse, G.L.A.R.E., Emily Lovejoy – Selected Works, After Ego, and Delicate Evolution.
Winning a R.A.W. Artist of the Year award, multiple solo and group exhibitions, and even a feature in Art + Design Magazine are all of the things that make Emily Lovejoy a relevant name in the New Orleans art scene. Lovejoy’s career has many accomplishments. Her most fulfilling achievement thus far has been the completion of her Identity series. The series exemplifies her contemporary portraiture style. Emily also recognizes the friends and lasting relationships she has made through her art as one of her biggest accomplishments.
