This story has been updated since its publication on May 18. Cafe Du Monde has opened its doors for service on Friday, May 22.
For those that have visited the French Quarter since the Pandemic, it’s been a spooky sight to see. Boards on windows and doors, no activity on the streets, and lots of emptiness. With Phase One of Louisiana’s reopening however, the boards are coming off, and that includes at the infamous Cafe du Monde, located at 800 Decatur Street. The iconic beignet spot’s flagship location in the French Quarter will reopen this Wednesday or Thursday.
The reopening date depends on some renovations they are doing inside the restaurant that they have not had the chance to do in years past.
Cafe du Monde’s City Park location reopened earlier this month for service. If you can’t wait until Thursday for your coffee and beignet fix, head there!
