November 4, 2019 | The post voodoo blues may be setting in, but there’s still plenty to get excited about in our little corner of the swamp. I’m Sierra – your newest Captain of the Beat on Deep South Dance – and Here’s your latest bi-weekly roundup…
Voodoo Nola took City Park by storm last weekend. Bassnectar brought the thrills on Saturday night, while space mom Rezz brought the chills for Sunday.
All the Deja Voodoo afterparties were also a hit. Hell’s Gala brought Slander and friends to the Orpheum, while Krewella took over the Metro for their annual Fright Night. PEEKABOO and Whipped Cream played late into the night at the Republic, while Zhu joined as a special guest during the Joy’s Krewe du Kanaval party.
Halloween weekend brought lots of treats to town. Local production company Bearded Lady Productions brought a special Hexxed themed party to Santos, and alien life landed at the Drifter during a Sinful Seven Soirée.
Here’s what’s coming up for us over the next two weeks.
Upcoming Shows
This weekend Bassik is having their anniversary party at the Republic with Borgore and Kai Wachi. Com Truise hits up the Hi-Ho Lounge.
For those of you interested in some underground vibes, we have some killer parties this weekend as well.
And looking ahead for next week, the fun continues. The Dohm Collective brings their latest in the silent disco to the Drifter for a top-secret party – Redacted – but Thievery Corporation is playing the House of Blues on the same night and Mersiv returns to Republic. Decisions, decisions.
To round out the month, Loud Luxury is headed back to New Orleans to headline Metro on November 24th, Shpongle & Russ Liquid are headed to NOLA the night before, Gryffin is headling the Joy on the 26th, and Subtronics & G-Rex are gobble wobbling into Republic NOLA. All just in time for Thanksgiving festivities.
Get the full scoop on all these events are more on our New Orleans events calendar. But don’t worry, we’ll remind you of our regular weekend guides as well.
