Late Night Radio & Phyphr are taking over NOLA on April 26. A perfect post Jazz Fest show for those who love electro soul & funk. Grab tickets here – At ARORA NOLA.
New Orleans will keep the party going after Jazz Fest with a late-night dose of electro-soul and funk when Late Night Radio takes the stage at ARORA on Saturday, April 26, 2025. The Denver-based producer, known for blending soulful melodies with hip-hop-inspired beats, returns to NOLA hot on the heels of his latest EP, Nocturne.
Late Night Radio is the stage name of Alex Medellin, a producer who has carved out a niche in the electronic scene by fusing retro soul textures with modern beatmaking. Drawing inspiration from artists like RJD2, Pretty Lights, and J Dilla, Medellin’s work is rich with analog warmth, layered samples, and live instrumentation. Since launching the project in 2011, he’s toured with the likes of GRiZ and The Floozies, and released multiple albums that blur the line between electronic and organic.
Nocturne, his latest release, is a continuation of his signature “soul music for the future” sound—a blend of dusty vinyl vibes, lush synths, and head-nodding grooves meant for both late-night listening and dancefloor catharsis. The EP takes its name from the classical tradition of nighttime compositions, and its moody, textured beats reflect that theme.
Joining him on the lineup is Phyphr, a fellow genre-bender who brings his own twist on the electro-soul sound. Known for funky guitar riffs, smooth synths, and live-looping performances, Phyphr adds a jam-band sensibility to the electronic space. The two artists have previously shared stages across the U.S., and their synergy promises a high-energy set that blends improvisation with heavy-hitting production.
What to Expect
The April 26 show will mark a special return for Late Night Radio, who’s built a loyal following in New Orleans thanks to past sets during festival season. With the energy of Jazz Fest still pulsing through the city, ARORA is set to transform into a sonic sanctuary of funk, soul, and late-night beats.
