Mister Mao, Uptown’s latest hotspot, continues the Guest Chef Charity Supper Club on March 20 benefiting local charity Turning Tables.
Opening back in 2021, Mister Mao touts unimaginably tasty combinations of cuisine served in a vibrant bar and lounge. The killer, ever-changing menu items are show-stoppers, and the drink menu compliments with items such as their Hellfire Mary (think bloody) and Thunderclap (tequila + coffee).
Chef/Owner Sophina Uong will team up with guest Chef Ozzie Mendoza Diaz (FOWLMOUTH NOLA) and Pastry Chef Bronwen Wyatt (Bayou Saint Cake) for a four-course, flavor-packed menu.
Mister Mao Charity Supper Club will feature an array of sumptuous Puerto Rican dishes created by Chef Diaz, alongside creative and “inauthentic” globally-inspired eats from Chef Uong.
Charity Supper Club Menu
- Sopa de Domplines – a flavor-packed soup with green plantain dumplings, chicharron dashi, avocado, sawtooth cilantro and adobo
- Asopao de Pato – deep fried duck confit, Creole chicken soup “risotto,” five-spice hot pickles and onion ash salt;
- Poisson Cru – coconut, Chile and sour orange marinated Gulf fish with tostones; and more. Guests can end on a sweet note with Chef Wyatt’s
- Cardamom Custard – hibiscus, candied kumquats, coconut and puffed amaranth.
Priced at $100 per person (excluding tax and gratuity), the four-course dinner includes unlimited Puerto Rican Disco Coladas and Chichaito. This uniquely spectacular benefit will help tackle racial inequality in New Orleans’ hospitality community. Turning Tables provides mentorship, training, and access for individuals within the Black and Brown communities.
Mister Mao’s Sunday Funday Charity Supper Club will take place on Sunday, March 20 from 5 pm – 8 pm. Mister Mao is located at 4501 Tchoupitoulas in New Orleans.
