It’s finally here. The Voodoo Music + Arts Experience just released their daily lineup this Thursday. Our first hot take? It’s balanced, measured, and deliberate. Organizers spaced out the genres and acts into a feasible endeavor for the weekend.
Great work, Voodoo organizers.
Potential schedule conflicts are minimal for now, so fans can breathe a sigh of relief.
It’s difficult to anticipate how schedules will work out earlier in the day. For headliners, though, it’s a safe bet that they’ll play at the end of the night. From this inference, here’s what we anticipate to be the biggest schedule conflict for this year’s Voodoo Music + Arts Experience:
Friday: Kendrick Lamar vs. LCD Soundsystem
This one’s going to be heartbreaking. Both names are major headliners for Friday, and each are can’t-miss acts in their own right. Kendrick Lamar holds the title of the best mainstream rapper right now, while LCD Soundsystem hold the distinction of a comeback band, together once more after 5 years.
Other than this potentially major conflict, festival organizers have done a fantastic job of anticipating the variety of fanbases and spacing out the relevant acts.
This daily lineup is also helpful for planning out your afterparty schedule.
New Orleans is a city that parties all night and into the next morning. No doubt, the afterparty scene will be vibrant on Voodoo weekend. So here’s a hint: the artists playing a particular day would most likely play at an afterparty on that same night.
Take your guesses for which acts will play afterparties. A definitive guide is coming up as soon as more information is out.
