Happy Weekend New Orleans! After celebrating the LSU victory earlier in the week – the city may be hitting the local parties extra hard this weekend. Whatever you’re looking for – there’s something for everyone on a weekend in New Orleans.
Stop by the New Orleans Jazz Museum for a free headdress crafting class this afternoon, or catch the Radiators at Tipitina‘s. Bearded Lady Productions and Subject Matter are teaming up for a Saturday night “Techno Service” party at Santos, and producer Roy Volpe headlines the Republic.
If you have a surplus of Mardi Gras costumes you’re waiting to break out, maybe the Mullet Prom presented by the Krewe of Full Bush would be a good place to start. Or if you’d rather relax and get jam-my with it, Spafford and the Iceman Special play the House of Blues on Sunday.
Check out these & all our other picks from this weekend in New Orleans:

It isn’t easy for artists to quickly make a name for themselves whilst simultaneously taking risks and trying to be completely unique in today’s music industry, but the flexible bass artist Ray Volpe makes it look effortless.
Based in Los Angeles, Ray Volpe has become one of the scene’s fastest rising stars and doesn’t show signs of slowing down. His ability to uniquely blend melodies with heavy-hitting synths marks him as an incredibly versatile artist. With an extensive catalogue of official remixes for artists like Marshmello, Zomboy, Boombox Cartel, Getter, Jauz, Dabin, and more, a large percentage of the industry’s heavyweights have taken note of this young talent and rightfully so. Volpe’s original tracks have earned him releases on massive labels such as Never Say Die and have consistently been featured on Excision’s highly anticipated year mix compilations. His EPs – ‘Purpose’, ‘No Emotion Allowed’ and ‘Reality’ (to name just a few) – do a perfect job of showcasing his incredible talent.
After supporting artists like Excision, Borgore, Kill The Noise and Krewella, he’s already completed two headline tours with sold out dates, spanning across USA, Canada, Australia, & New Zealand. For Ray Volpe, this is just the beginning as he goes on to do game changing things with a large following of fans and producers alike.

Mimi’s in the Marigny
9pm-til
You are so invited to the best night of your teenage lives. Join Krewe of Full Bush for a night of bad dresses, worse suits, and hairdos that your entire lineage will regret. Come ready to dance at an arm’s length away from your cute date from math class, design a flask to stash your parents’ liquor in, watch a painfully awkward talent show, and spend hours contemplating whether or not to ask your crush to take a picture with you at the unfurrrrrgetable photobooth. Oh, and did we mention glitter ? Come party the night away, but only until curfew, with your favorite pro-hair, pro-Nair, or pro-anything-anywhere krewe.
Dates not necessary, prom-posals encouraged
** $5-$15 suggested donation…no one turned away for lack of hair or funds **
About Krewe of Full Bush: We are a hair-positive parading group that is inclusive to all people and bushes. No one will be turned away for lack of hair. An “Inner Krewe” of Krewe Boheme, be sure to look out for us in all our hairy glory on parade day, Friday, February 7th!

It’s impossible not to hear freedom and excitement coursing through the veins of Marco Benevento’s new studio album, ‘Let It Slide.’ Produced by Leon Michels (The Arcs, Lee Fields), the record introduces a gritty, soulful edge to Benevento’s brand of high-octane keyboard wizardry—an uptempo, uplifting sound he playfully describes as “hot dance piano rock.” For all Benevento’s virtuosity on the keys though, the songs here are driven primarily by intoxicating grooves, with spare drums and minimalist bass lines underpinning infectious, intentionally lo-fi vocal hooks. The resulting vibe is a timeless one, filtering elements of vintage R&B and soul through modern indie rock and pop sensibilities and peppering it with the kind of adventurous improvisation that Benevento’s come to be celebrated for worldwide.
