The local grocery store Canseco’s plans to open a new location in the empty retail space at 1133 S. Carrollton Ave. The location is located on the corner of Oak Street and Carrollton Ave.
The space originally began as a K&B drugstore and is still owned by philanthropist Sydney Besthoff III, the grandson of the K&B drugstore founder. The building has been vacant for some time and is ready for a new business to take it over. It has approximately 7,300 square feet on the ground floor, and a second-floor containing a kitchen and storage area.
This will be the 5th location for Canseco’s, which begin its start in 2005. The original location is located off Metairie Road, near Bonnabel Blvd. The chain has expanded to Arabi, Metairie, and Bayou St. John. Canseco’s plans to start renovations on the new location within a month of the city’s approval. Expected the location to be open at the start of 2020.
