Cash Money Records is sharing the love in New Orleans with those struggling to pay June rent. Towards the beginning of quarantine, Birdman, Bryan Williams, announced that he was calling on support from the New Orleans Mayor to help pay rent for hundreds of NOLA residents for the month of May. This time, he’s doing it again with the help of Cash Money Records, joined by co-founders Birdman and Slim, aka Ronald Williams.
The rap label has donated over $225,000 to Forward Together New Orleans, a local non-profit that benefits those in need amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. The funds they donated will specifically go to paying June rent for hundreds of tenants across Orleans parish.
Birdman is not new to philanthropy, especially in the NOLA area, always giving back to those in need. In a statement, he said:
“The legacy of Cash Money belongs to the city of New Orleans. There’s nothing more important to us than giving back to the brothers and sisters who live on those same streets we grew up on – from musicians to service workers to everyday working families. That’s what this label was always about.”

“New Orleans made us and is part of who we are. We are devastated that this pandemic is hitting our community there so hard and we are committed to doing what we can to help now and in the long term.”
