About King Cake Season

In New Orleans, the official start of King Cake season coincides with the “Twelfth Night.” Twelfth Night which marks the beginning of “Epiphany.” A count of exactly 12 days from December 25th to January 5th. According to Christian beliefs, this day is the Twelfth Night. The day of Epiphany, when the three wise men came to visit baby Jesus, is the day after, on 6 January. We plan our King Cakes around this visit from the three kings in the bible!
