The Jazz & Blues Market New Orleans will host “Groove for Good: A Celebration of Music and Community” on Saturday, September 12, bringing together an impressive lineup of local musicians to support the venue’s ongoing rebirth. And you can get tickets HERE.
Hosted by Judith Owen and Harry Shearer, the benefit concert will feature performances from Owen and her band, led by David Torkanowsky, along with Donald Harrison, Bill Summers, Kermit Ruffins, Herlin Riley, Shannon Powell, Jamison Ross, Tonya Boyd-Cannon, DJ Soul Sister, and more artists still to be announced. Girls Play Trumpets Too and New Voices New Orleans will also join the celebration.
The concert marks the final fundraising phase of the Jazz & Blues Market’s Rebirth Initiative, which is focused on restoring the venue as a home for live music, education, artist development, and community programming.
Funds raised will support youth music classes, workshops and mentorship opportunities; community concert series; vocational training and professional development; and the return of the New Orleans Jazz Orchestra. The initiative will also help complete a state-of-the-art recording and streaming facility designed to share performances with audiences worldwide while providing local artists with recordings of their sets at no cost.
The main concert begins at 8 p.m. A special VIP event will take place from 6–7 p.m., featuring complimentary wine and champagne from Partners Wine Marketing Group, bites from Le Moyne Bistro, and music from DJ Soul Sister. VIP tickets also include premium table seating and access to an after-show artist party.
“Groove for Good” will take place September 12 at the Jazz & Blues Market New Orleans. Tickets are available through Ticketmaster.
