Sound Tribe Sector 9’s (STS9) “Get Loud” tour has already been one of the most successful tours of 2017.
The band has traveled everywhere from Las Vegas to Milwaukee, and will be concluding one of the most epic tours right in the heart of New Orleans.
The Atlanta-based livetronica act has been prevalent in the scene since 1997 when the group formed. Their use of experimental jam tied with electronic techniques has truly put Sound Tribe on the map far and wide. Audiences in both the electronica and jam world can’t get enough of this prolific act.
And now they’ve gone and surprised us again by bringing back the Axe the Cables acoustic set for New Orleans Jazzfest Weekend. Performing over two nights at the Joy Theater, this is an event you can’t miss. Enter our ticket giveaway below:
Through the duration of the entire tour, each stop has only been a true STS9 set, not Axe The Cables.
For those that don’t know, an Axe The Cables set is all-acoustic and jam bliss. It has been said that axed sets will make you cry, so be prepared for some feels. STS9 has played axed sets in their hometown of Atlanta and at Electric Forest 2016, but they have not played on that caliber since.
For those attending weekend 1 of the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Fest, STS9 will the perfect after-party and are playing both Friday/Saturday night: April 28- 29. Tickets can be purchased for the events here.
Or try your luck at winning TWO GA Passes for BOTH nights of STS9 at the Joy Theater, New Orleans on April 28 & 29, 2017 from River Beats! Winners must be 18+, winners will be announced on Wednesday, April 26 at 7 PM CST. Good luck!

The show on the 28th will be a normal STS9 set, the jammy, funky, instrumental electronica that we all know and love. The show on the 29th will be the acoustic Axe The Cables set… and you will want to prepare to get axed.
This monumental performance in New Orleans is going to be something you don’t want to miss. The band will not play an Axe The Cables set again until the Sunday of their 3-day Red Rocks stop celebrating 20 years on September 8-10.
The band will be sure to have some last-minute surprises seeing as this is the LAST stop on the “Get Loud” tour, and they are bringing out the big guns!
NEW ORLEANS, LA: if you will be in town early, don’t miss out on Manic Focus performing with a live band and special guests Russ Liquid, Marvel Years featuring Colby Buckler, at Republic NOLA on April 27th! As the proud hosts of this event, River Beats invites you to join us for these incredible performers, along with support from beloved local talents Daily Bread and Dino Brawl.
Tickets for the show are available online here.
More info can be found on the official event page. We at River Beats hope that you’ll join us, Manic Focus, and the many special guests on April 27th to properly kick-off the legendary New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival for 2017.
