It’s Taco Tuesday every day at La Patrona! Opening up mid-pandemic, La Patrona at 575 S. Carrollton continues to receive rave reviews and fill the bellies of plenty with delicious Mexican food. Restauranteur Edwin Alonzo, the mind behind La Mansion, opened up La Patrona with the intention of presenting “a take on his family’s favorite traditional Mexican dishes.”
The Food
Though their 5-for-$10 taco special steals the spotlight, don’t let other dishes from the menu go under your radar. And yes, that taco special is DAILY, not just on Tuesday! Make your choice from EIGHT different meats including chicken, carne asada, al pastor, shrimp, lengua (tongue), and more – served the classic style with cilantro and onions on corn tortillas (pictured in featured image).
River Beats personal favorites include the Nacho Mix with homemade tortilla chips stacked with a slew of meats, cheese, jalapeños, and guac and the Green Enchiladas, a mild tomatillo sauce smothering two enchiladas with chicken, white cheese, and sour cream. And don’t sleep on the apps! The Sizzling Cheese starter is best enjoyed in the restaurant, and is a must-have.

If you’re a vegetarian, there is plenty of options for you too, including the Spinach Enchiladas with sautéed spinach, tomatoes, onions, cilantro sauce and white cheese, vegetarian Taco Plate, Cactus Salad, and more. View their full menu here.
Breakfast is also on the menu with classic Mexican dishes such as Chilaquiles (with a spicy kick!), Mexican-style Eggs, and Breakfast Tacos, of course.

The Space
La Patrona is an instant neighborhood favorite right in the heart of the Black Pearl in Uptown, with indoor seating, and can’t-beat daily specials! Though the restaurant space inside is a little quaint, we have never had an issue getting a table.
