New Vegan Eatery, NOLA Vegan Cafe, Opens Today in Carrollton Neighborhood

A new vegan spot is opening today on Leonidas Street! NOLA Vegan Cafe at 1923 Leonidas Street will serve delicious vegan cooking and also aims to help young people aging out of our foster care system.

Sonya Brown, owner of the Cafe, is a social worker who has spent over a decade helping children in foster care. She herself aged out of the foster care system she explained, and working to be a mentor for kids in similar situations as herself has been her whole life’s dream.

NOLA Vegan Cafe will serve vegan food that combines the flavors and traditional dishes of New Orleans, such as gumbo and po-boys. The Cafe will offer in-house seating or take-out for those in a hurry.

“Balancing these things with keeping the authenticity of New Orleans flavors – that’s my philosophy. That’s why we have hot sauce on the tables next to the Himalayan sea salt. It’s really good vegan food, but New Orleans vegan food.”

– Sonya Brown

The restaurant is open 11am-6pm Tuesday through Friday, and 9am-6pm on Saturday and Sunday. Located at 1923 Leonidas Street.
