Nestled on the ground floor of the Pontchartrain Hotel, the Bayou Bar is a casual tavern-style bar where music played an integral role in its storied past. Sinatra and Capote spent many a night imbibing in the Garden District drinking den.
Now, the cozy bar is thrilled to announce that its popular live music program will return Wednesday – Saturday evenings from 7 PM – 10 PM.
Adhering to current protocols to ensure a safe and positive experience, guests can still enjoy the stellar acoustics and warm, intimate vibe that earned praise from locals and visitors seeking an alternative to large, crowded venues. Performances run three full hours with no cover charge. Tables are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Performances will feature an array of local artists including the Peter Harris Trio and Jordan Anderson, amongst others. For dates and lineup, please visit Bayou Bar Music Calendar.
Guests can also enjoy an extensive whiskey collection, creative craft cocktails, and inventive dishes from the Jack Rose dinner menu.
If you’ve not been to Jack Rose, chances are that you know it from the countless Instagram photos posted beneath that jubilant portrait of Lil Wayne that hangs in the Living Room. The restaurant concept is just as New Orleans: named after Tennessee William’s The Rose Tattoo and owned by two locals.
Their menu includes crispy pork cheeks – roasted garlic grits, pan gravy; crawfish & corn flakes – red onions, cherry tomatoes, lime vinaigrette; the 1&1 Burger served with cheddar cheese curds and house-made hickory sauce; and the killer veal chop – prosciutto, sage, baby green beans.
Bayou Bar is located at 2031 Saint Charles Avenue in the Pontchartrain Hotel in New Orleans.
