New and exciting news coming from Copper Vine! The wine bar has recently announced a new chef taking the reins: Amy Mehrtens. In addition to her debut, she’s also revealed some new Southern-inspired menu items. Copper Vine opened their doors earlier this year in the Central Business District.
With her arrival, Chef Mehrtens has unveiled an array of new dishes inspired by the vibrant flavors and techniques of the South. Though she is at the helms, Copper Vine did not part ways with past Chef Mike (Brewer), according to BHG owner Kyle Brechtel.
“Chef Brewer still remains heavily involved in all things BHG, and is currently transitioning to lead our newest venture Bonfire Catering. Chef Amy will be responsible for menu development and overseeing culinary operations at Copper Vine.”

Some of Mehrten’s new dishes include Pork Belly & Corn Fried Oysters with a Crystal glaze, pickled okra, blue cheese crumbles and a buttermilk dressing; Autumn Squash & Ancient Grains with roasted apples, Hook’s aged cheddar, spiced walnuts, cranberries, tender greens, and sherry vinaigrette; and more. Other options include something termed the Chef’s Daily Muse – a blind food and wine pairing created from her “secret menu.”
Stop by to visit Copper Vine at 1001 Poydras Street. Their hours can be a bit confusing, so check out their website here to plan your weekend outings.
