After just opening up a brick and mortar location along Magazine Street, Wicks NOLA shared tragic news on Sunday morning. The newly opened retail store at 1900 Magazine Street caught fire around 5am “that resulted in significant damage to the inside of the store.” Thankfully, no one was hurt, but their store is inoperable. Moving in right after Ida, the team unfortunately was unable to get insurance for the contents and personal property.

About Tiffany Walker, wicks nola CEO
Tiffany Brown is the founder of the Wicks NOLA Candle Company. Named as one of Oprah Magazine’s 22 best scented candles, she has taken her passion for candles all the way to the top. Tiffany started her company when she discovered some of her favorite candles weren’t necessarily made with the best ingredients. In fact, they had a slight artificial chemical odor and left behind soot on her walls.
While searching for luxury brand, clean burning candles, Tiffany found some that she loved, but noticed they were overpriced, so she took matters into her own hands. Through research and hard work, she learned to create her own clean burning, vegan home fragrances and has expanded to offer room sprays, wax melts and, diffusers as an environmentally friendly alternative to the big box brands. She believes everyone deserves healthy fragrances without breaking the bank, so she created her line at a fair price for all to enjoy.
A New Orleans native, one tradition Tiffany had with her late father was to explore the Big Easy like a tourist. Riding the street cars from the Garden District to Treme, their adventures together inspired her rich love for the city and each hand-selected candle scent brings fond memories of her favorite places and their time together.
A go-getter since the age of 15, Tiffany developed a strong work ethic and since starting her candle line, she and her husband are infusing their values to their two teen daughters. Wicks NOLA has officially become a family affair, and you will find Tiffany and her close-knit family displaying the strong sense of purpose that she grew up with at her first brick and mortar location in Kenner, Louisiana. As a successful display of the strength and determination that comes with being part of the African American community, Tiffany enjoys inspiring others to realize their dreams by sharing her story of success.
