Your Definitive Guide to Saturday’s Voodoo Afterparties

Saturday is pure chaos. This will be the most difficult night to pick out an afterparty situation. Be wise and don’t attend more than two.

Saturday, 10/28

Techno Club Presents Lleauna + Joe Dismal B-Day Bash

Lineup: Lleauna, Joe Dismal, BearBear Linh

Location: 810 South Peters Street

Time: 10pm – 6am

Vibes: (18+ event) Techno Club is the Saturday counterpart to Spektrum. Similarly, it’s one of the best-kept secrets of New Orleans nightlife. This techno weekly emphasizes extended sets from the resident DJs, who diligently put in the work to keep its faithful regulars coming back every weekend. As always, the sound system, crowd, and music are on point.

It’s a special occasion, too. Lleauna and Joe Dismal – two resident DJs of the Techno Club collective, are celebrating their birthdays this weekend.

The event is free and does not require tickets.

KOMPRESSION – Voodoo/Halloween Weekend

Lineup: Pezzner, Kevin Knapp, Herb Christopher, Unicorn Fukr, Ryan Deffes, Marshall Monica, Carmine P. Filthy, Jordan Whaley

Location: The Dragon’s Den

Time: 10pm – 8am

Vibes: (21+ event) This is the author’s pick of the night. KOMPRESSION is a rave for grown-ups. Going on 7 years and counting, this monthly party brings in some of the best that the underground has to offer. The emphasis is on good music and good vibes, and the curators take every step to ensure that it meets those standards.

The headliners, Pezzner and Kevin Knapp, have releases on some of the hottest labels in dance music. Their individual productions only add to their DJing credo. But it’s not just the headliners who spin the best tracks. Supporting acts, especially resident DJs Herb Christopher, Unicorn Fukr, and Ryan Deffes are each forces to be reckoned with. KOMPRESSION goes well into Sunday morning, so prepare accordingly.

Tickets for the event are available HERE.

TRAX ONLY Presents OCTO OCTA Halloween New Orleans

Lineup: Octo Octa, Masha, Father Figure, Bouffant Bouffant, Kathi, DJ Hyena, Psychic Hotline (Live)

Location: *

Time: 10pm – 5am

Vibes: (18+ event) This is the author’s second pick of the night. Sure, it’s cheating to have two picks for one night. But Saturday night warrants it. Last night’s afterparty at Poor Boys Bar with Gavin Rayna Russom was proof positive that Trax Only throws some of the best parties in New Orleans.

Brooklyn-based Octo Octa navigates both DJ and live sets with effortless ease, and has many years of producing to add to her expertise. This is a warehouse rave that you absolutely cannot miss.

*The location for this event is a warehouse in the Bywater neighborhood. The exact address is available on the Facebook event page linked above.

Rendez-Vous Doux: Nancy Whang (DJ Set)

Lineup: Nancy Whang

Location: Three Keys (within Ace Hotel)

Time: 11:59pm – 4am

Vibes: (18+ event) Nancy Whang is another supremely talented member of the acclaimed LCD Soundsystem. If you’re attending the LCD Soundsystem show earlier in the night, this is the perfect afterparty destination.

Three Keys, located at the Ace Hotel, is more of a swanky location. But don’t be discouraged; it’s a perfect meeting place for all kinds of crowds. The party is free with RSVP, but space is limited. You can RSVP for the event HERE.

AfterLife

Lineup: Me Nd Adam, Sexy Dex & The Fresh + Quickie Mart

Location: Santos Bar (1135 Decateur Street)

Time: 11pm – 5 am

Vibes: (21+ event) Anytime Quickie Mart is in town, it’s worth going out of your way to go see him. Not to mention; Santos is a great venue that’s been making more of an effort recently to incorporate bands and DJs. Out of all the dive bars along Decateur Street, this one is a local favorite.

Tickets for the event are available HERE.
